Story behind the legendary bag:

Istorija legendarne torbe:

The 2.55 bag was first introduced in February 1955- hence the name 2.55. This was the first bag with shoulder straps.Coco reccognised that women on the go needed to have their hands free to hold glasses of champagne, eat canapes, read theatre programmes etc so the chain strap was added to make the bag easy to carry on the shoulder.
 This bag has number of  features all inspired by Coco's life:

Torba 2.55 je prvu put pustena na trziste u Februaru 1955 (odatle i naziv 2.55). Takodje ovo je prva torba u istoriji koja je imala rucke. Coco je prepoznala potrebu zena da im ruke budu slobodne kako bi drzale casu sampanjca, jele kanapee, citale pozorisni program... 
Svi elementi ove torbe su inspirisani zivoto Coco Chanel i bas zbog toga je ona legendarna.

• The lining’s burgundy colour represents the colour of the uniforms at the convent where she grew up.
• Postava je baronkasto-crvenkaste boje i predstavlja boju uniforme koju je nosila u sirotistu.

• There is a zippered compartment at the inside of the front flap. That is where Chanel is roumoured to have stored her love letters in her original bag.
• Unutar torbe se nalazi mali skriveni dzepic. Veruje se da je bas u tom dzepcicu Coco drzala ljubavna pisma od svojih ljubavnika.

• The backside has pocket that Coco used  for storage of money.
• Takodje postoji i dzepic na pozadini torbe u kojem se veruje da je Coco drzala novac.
• The shoulder strap, as mentioned above. Coco grew in the convent, at the orphanage. The caretakers of the convent she grew up at hold the keys at their waist dangling from the same type of chains as the 2.55 reissue shoulder strap chains.

• The front lock - The front lock (square) is calles "the Mademoiselle lock" because Coco never got married.

• The quilt -The bag has a quilted diamond or herringbone pattern on the exterior.The pattern is believed to have been inspired by several sources: by jockeys’ riding coats, the stained-glass windows of the abbey at Aubazine, as well as by the cushions in Chanels Paris apartment. 
• Step - Eksterijer torbe je prostepan, veruje se da postoji nekoliko inspiracija za ovaj oblik od jakni dzokeja, staklenih prozora u sirotistu do jastuka u Ritzu.

Since its introduction, there have been several variations of the original design including different colour leather\fabric combinations, metal and interwoven leather straps and the lock, mademoiselle vs. interlocking CC.

Od uvodjenja na trziste ova torba je pretrpela nekoliko varijacija originalnog dizajna od boje, kombinacije maretijala, rucki...



The Interlocking CC logo and the Classic Flap
In 1983 Karl Lagerfeld joined the house of Chanel as Artistic Director (Chief Designer). Based on research we believe that while Coco Chanel designed the interlocking CC logo she didn’t use it much in her designs, it was Karl Lagerfeld who introduced the interlocking CC closure on the flaps. 

Karl Lagerfeld se prikljucio Chanelu kao kreativni direktor 1983 godine. Prema istrazivanju, Iako se veruje da he COCO dizajnirala "interlocking CC" ona ga nije previse koristila, upravo je Karl bio taj koji ga je postavio na tasnu.

The term CLASSIC FLAP commonly refers to the flap with the interlocking CC logo closure, chain with interwoven leather, and more rounded shape to the outer flap. The jumbo classic flap has a single flap, the medium is double flap. 

Termin CLASSIC FLAP se odnosi na tasnu sa CC kopcom , ruckama isprepletanim kozom i malo zaobljenijim oblikom.

The Classic Flap comes in many sizes: 1) XL or Maxi, 2) Jumbo, 3) Medium, 4) Mini, 5) East/West, 6) Kelly, etc.

The Classip Flap mozete pronaci u nekoliko velicina: 1)XL ili Maxi 2) Jumbo 3) Medium 4) Mini 5) East/West 6) Kelly itd.

The 2005 Commemorative 2.55 Reissue:
In February 2005 Karl Lagerfeld re-made the 2.55 - exactly as Coco Chanel had made in 1955 in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the 2.55. It came to be known as the REISSUE. Technically the term REISSUE should only be used for the bags that were made to commemorate the original - so only those in 2005. However, it has become convenient to call all 2.55s that resemble the original 2.55 REISSUEs and all 2.55s that have the interlocking CCs CLASSIC FLAPS.

2005 Reissue:
U Februaru 2005 Karl Lagerled je u cast 50 - og rodjendana ove tasne ponovo uveo  2.55 tasnu - Istu onakvu koji je Coco kreirala i pustila u prodaju u Februaru 1955. Komemorativna Reissue torba je bila dostupna u 3 boje: crnoj sa zlatnim metalom, sivoj sa srebrnim metalom i beloj sa srebrnim metalnom i 5 velicina. Kada se kaze 224,225,226,227,228 misli se na velicinu Reissue torbe.

The 2005 Commemorative REISSUE was available in three colors (black w/gold hardware, grey w/silver hardware, and white w/silver hardware) and 5 sizes. The sizes are commonly referred to as 224, 225, 226, 227, 228 and the numbers correspond to the last 3 
numbers of the style code.

Hybrid:
As already mentioned above, over the years there have been many variations of the 2.55 flap bag. “Hybrid” is a term used to describe a flap bag that is a combination of a 2.55 and a Classic flap. In 2007 Chanel introduced a new chain referred to as the Bijoux chain.It has the Bijoux chain, the rounded outer flap (more pronounced on jumbo Hybrids), mademoiselle closure and the leather is distressed caviar.

Kao sto je vec pomento, ova torba je od svog prvog uvodjenja na trziste pretrpela mnoge promene. Termin "Hibrid" se koristi da bi opisao torbu dobivenu kao rezultat kombinacije Reissue 2.55 torbe i Classic Flap. Ova torba je zaobljenija, ima novi lanac - rucke ( Bijoux uvedenim 2007) mademoiselle zakacku i napravljena je od Caviar koze.
